Handel’s Belshazzar: The Gallery Voices and Smithsonian Concerto Grosso

Handel’s dramatic oratorio brings to life the confrontation between Persian King Cyrus and his Babylonian counterpart Belshazzar as Cyrus seeks to outwit his flawed enemy and free the Jews from captivity. The Gallery Voices are the resident vocal ensemble at the National Gallery of Art. Kenneth Slowik, director of the Smithsonian Concerto Grosso, appears on two Grammy Award winning recordings. Free tickets required.
