City Choir of Washington: Handel Coronation Anthems, Dettingen Te Deum Concert

Please join us for a stirring performance of George Frideric Handel’s regal Coronation Anthems. In 1727, soon after becoming a naturalized British citizen, Handel selected the text and composed these four anthems for the coronation of King George II. The pieces have remained popular to this day and are performed regularly at ceremonial functions as well as in concerts.

The program will also include the Dettingen Te Deum, a jubilant work for chorus, soloists and orchestra that Handel composed in 1743 to commemorate the English victory over the French at the Battle of Dettingen.

This concert will feature performances by soloists selected through The City Choir of Washington's Young American Artists Program.
