Russian National Ballet Theatre: Giselle

Experience one of the most venerated works in the classical ballet canon as performed by this celebrated Russian ensemble. Giselle is the tragic tale of a beautiful peasant girl who falls deeply in love with a count disguised as a lowly villager. When Giselle learns of the deceit, she dies from madness, and her spirit joins the ghosts of girls who avenge the evil deeds of men who have betrayed them. The tragic story is ultimately a message of love and forgiveness prevailing in the end. This Russian masterpiece is the perfect showcase for the extraordinary skill and talent of these dancers, and features Petipa’s luminous choreography, a hauntingly beautiful score, and resplendent costumes and sets. Elena Radchenko, the legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet, founded this extraordinary ensemble in 1994. “A cut above many of its rivals.” (The Washington Post)
