Austin Vitaliano

Austin Vitaliano is a weekend host on WETA Classical. Austin is an active vocalist and performer based in the D.C. area and has performed in classical, oratorio, and musical theater works all around the world.

Previous engagements include his debut at Boston’s Cutler Majestic Theatre as Papageno in The Magic Flute. He has performed a​t festival programs in Amalfi and Vienna, and sang alongside Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Julius Drake and other master teachers in a six-week Lieder program in Baden, Austria. His past roles include Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the title role of Don Giovanni, and Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. His concert repertoire includes such works as Handel’s Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem, and Adam in Haydn’s Creation.

When not performing, Austin is hosting The Holistic Voice, an interview-based podcast aimed at empowering vocalists to develop the artistic, performance, business, and life skills needed for a successful singing or voice-over career. You can also find him working days at a national animal protection nonprofit fighting to end animal suffering.

Austin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Communications from Vanderbilt University, and a Master’s degree in Opera Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. At the end of the day, you'll likely find Austin cracking a beer at a brewery, cooking up a new recipe, or hanging out with his rescue dog, Omi.
