When the Boulder Philharmonic comes to Washington for the SHIFT Festival, they are bringing their own naturalist. Dave Sutherland collaborates with the Boulder Phil by leading music-inspired nature hikes, and he will be doing a couple of them here in Rock Creek Park, as well as being available to guide visitors at the Tidal Basic when Boulder Phil musicians play chamber music there. Marilyn Cooley spoke with Dave about how the hikes were created, why they are so well-suited to Boulder sensibilities, and some of Boulder's most iconic residents.
