Washington Bach Consort opens its 40th season Sunday afternoon, September 17, 2017 at National Presbyterian Church with a program celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation. Titled "Foundation: Bach and the Reformation," the performance features three cantatas, including Bach's famous BWV 80, Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott as well as the Orchestral Suite No. 4 in D major. The consort and singers will be led by Richard Giarusso, one of five candidates for Artistic Director to replace the late J. Reilly Lewis who founded WBC in 1977. Classical WETA's Deborah Lamberton spoke with Richard Giarusso about his connection to Bach and to this program.
