Classical WETA's James Jacobs speaks with Kian Soltani, cellist with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, who will be playing the solo part in Richard Strauss's Don Quixote with the orchestra on November 7 at the Kennedy Center, co-presented by Washington Performing Arts, conducted by the orchestra's founder Daniel Barenboim, on a program that also includes Tchaikovsky's Symphony no. 5. Mr. Soltani talks about his experiences with the orchestra, his Austrian/Persian background, and the ways in which he himself is "quixotic." He also takes us through the way Strauss depicts the knight errant's adventure with the windmills.
