Knowing his devotion to the music of J.S. Bach, friends of Pablo Casals urged him to celebrate the tricentennial of the composer's birth in 1950. The first concert of Festival Pablo Casals Prades later took place in the parish church where Pablo Casals resided after his exile from Spain. Undoubtedly one of the world's oldest music festivals, it remains among the most innovate in its quest to expand repertoire and to introduce new talents. Led by Artistic Director Michel Lethiex, the festival celebrated its sixtieth anniversary in 2012 and continues to present chamber music concerts with an impressive roster of distunguished musicians from around the world.
