Miguel E. Monteverde, Jr. is Senior Vice President and General Manager, WETA Greater Washington. Monteverde oversees local programming strategy and multi-platform content development and production for the Greater Washington, D.C. community. He joined WETA in October 2019.
Prior to joining WETA, Monteverde was Chief Operating Officer for an online video platform company, Rumble, Inc.; a founder and principal at Green Mountain Advisors, providing consulting services for early-stage companies; and serving as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Previously, Monteverde spent nine years at Discovery Communications, and served as Senior Vice President of Digital Media from 2014-2017. He managed video streaming services and led digital and social media strategy and operations for multiple U.S. television networks under the Discovery umbrella including Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel. Those efforts earned Monteverde three Webby Awards and selection as an Emmy® finalist for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media.
Before his tenure at Discovery, Monteverde spent more than a decade at AOL in a variety of programming and business roles, including serving as General Manager of AOL Video. Monteverde is a former Army officer, and a graduate of the University of Virginia.
