Major Gift Coordinator

Reports to: VP, Major & Planned Gifts

We are looking to hire a Major Gift Coordinator for our Major & Planned Giving department. The Major Gift Coordinator will assist in all aspects of implementing major gifts and planned giving cultivation, solicitation and stewardship plans to include donor events, acknowledgements, gift recording and crediting, preparing materials for distribution and providing administrative support. This role reports to the Vice President, Major and Planned Gifts.

In an average week, you can expect to:

  • Track, process, and write acknowledgements for gifts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper donor treatment.
  • Process gifts including source codes, deposit days, wire transfers, reclasses, etc.
  • Work with other departments as necessary to manage donor information in database.
  • Assist with planning and execution of donor events.

What success looks like:

  • After 60 days, you will have a general understanding of the work of the Major and Planned Giving department, including ways of donating to WETA and NewsHour, general knowledge of gift processing and acknowledgments, and understanding of the WETA data base.
  • After 120 days, you will have proficiency in gift processing and acknowledgements, good general knowledge of WETA and NewsHour, skilled at navigating the WETA date base.

You must have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of event planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation, tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using Microsoft Office programs (including mail merge), email, Internet, and database management software.
  • Familiarity with donor research.

You should have:

  • College degree in public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of administrative office experience, preferably in development, marketing, fundraising or non-profit environment.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
