Associate Producer, Education

Full-time, Grant funded – 1 year (potential for renewal)

Reports to: Education Producer

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our Education Associate Producer, you’ll write content for NewsHour Classroom, including stories, lessons, class activities and headlines, and manage our social media accounts. You’ll keep our website up-to-date and do periodic quality control checks.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

You will be fluent in our website platforms, creating strong instructional resources around current events and issues, news, civics and media literacy. You will have familiarized yourself with NewsHour Classroom’s mission, work, educational resources and work with the Education Producer to learn our production priorities. You’ll be working with Classroom’s partners to share and upload content and generating social media posts and other forms of communications that engage the viewer and showcase Classroom’s content.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

You are a valued team member who consistently writes, edits and publishes education content at the highest levels. Your work maintains high editorial and integrity standards. You’re a support for teachers across the country. You’ve contributed new ideas for creating and delivering Classroom content that engages young learners and teachers, especially in the areas of media literacy and civics. You understand the needs of Classroom’s audience through social media and feedback opportunities that help to build Classroom’s audience.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Exemplary writing skills.
  • Experience working with WordPress and other CMS platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven copyediting skills and attention to detail.
  • College degree in a humanities-related field; two plus years working in digital media and education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
