SRL is an award-winning national youth journalism program that connects classrooms and after school programs to local PBS stations and the PBS NewsHour. Thousands of teachers use SRL’s journalism and video production resources, producing multimedia stories that are regularly featured on local and national news media. The SRL team consists of a small, ambitious and talented team of journalism and education professionals who work closely with a growing network of students, teachers and media partners.
This one-year fellowship was created in honor of award-winning PBS NewsHour anchor Gwen Ifill. The Fellow participates in the development and production off Washington Week and PBS News Weekend, with primary responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Producers of Washington Week and PBS News Weekend, including research, gathering editorial information and video elements; copy editing; and assisting with scripts. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to work with digital and broadcast reporters and producers on story assignments and assist with research, pitching, reporting and production of stories that will be published on the PBS Newshour's website and aired on Washington Week and PBS News Weekend.

The Fellow participates in the development and production of the PBS NewsHour. For six months, the Fellow will be dedicated to daily production of the NewsHour, with primary responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Broadcast Coordinating Producer including research, gathering editorial information and video elements; copy editing; and assisting with scripts. For another six months, the Fellow will work closely with digital and broadcast reporters and producers, shadowing them on story assignments, including in the field, and assisting with research, pitching, reporting and production of stories that will be published on the PBS Newshour's website and aired on the PBS NewsHour's nightly show.
WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.
The Producer, National Affairs, is an integral member of the PBS NewsHour national affairs unit, overseeing production of video and studio interview segments for use on-air. This position is covered under the SAG-AFTRA union
Primary duties include assisting/problem-solving questions and concerns from members, viewers and listeners. Primary subjects for calls and emails include WETA’s fundraising programs; member benefits such as WETA Passport (our membership video on-demand streaming service); NPR+; the WETA Magazine; and questions and requests related to WETA’s television and radio programs.
Perform preventive and corrective technical maintenance on all broadcast and production systems. Provide broadcast systems maintenance, installation and testing support as needed. This position involves year-round 24 hrs./7 days support of master control, studios control rooms, post production, and news editing. Primary facility hours of operation 8am to 9pm and include a flexible weekend rotation. The position is covered by an IBEW union contract and reports to the Senior Director of Engineering.
Perform on a daily, ongoing basis, editing in support of WETA Local productions, including WETA Arts and Signature Dish. Perform other duties as may be assigned in accordance with union jurisdiction. This position is covered by the IBEW union contract.
Primary responsibilities include but not restricted to lighting director for studio and field productions; lighting console programming; lighting design. This position is covered by the IBEW.
The Producer, Multimedia Fundraising will design and drive TV, radio and digital pledge campaigns from conception, production and business planning through analysis of results. The Producer will coordinate the work of diverse internal and external contributors to these efforts.
This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented position that impacts multiple WETA fundraising teams. The Revenue Processing Associate performs timely, efficient and accurate processing of fundraising revenue to meet the needs of WETA’s fundraising and accounting operations. This person is a key member of the central processing hub of all fundraising revenue streams that drives WETA’s 24-hour business cycle. This person collaborates closely with internal clients to assure efficient workflows are maintained while processing multiple fiscal requests simultaneously. Reports to Director, Development Operations.
Coordinate daily scheduling of technicians and technical facilities in support of daily production activities. Ensure posted daily schedule is always accurate and up to date and in accordance with the IBEW CBA. This position reports to Scheduling Operations Manager.
