Phillips Book Prize winner Robert Slifkin (The Institute of Fine Arts, New York University) speaks about his new book Out of Time: Philip Guston and the Refiguration of Postwar American Art,* which focuses on the 33 paintings that Guston exhibited at Marlborough Gallery in 1970 and provides an in-depth account that reconsiders the history of postwar American art and the conception of figuration in modern art history. A book signing and light reception follow the lecture.
